ObjectAssembler 2.5 (ID #19886)
ObjectVenture Inc.
The included installer is for Windows only. You can get other installers at our web site (http://www.objectventure.com)
ObjectAssembler is a comprehensive software development environment that fully supports the design, development, assembly, and deployment of Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) applications. ObjectAssembler simplifies and accelerates the delivery of these enterprise applications by providing visual representations of components and assemblies. It takes care of the dirty work by generating and maintaining source code while you concentrate on architectural and business level details.
At the same time, ObjectAssembler allows you to work at the source code level if you wish. Its unique IntelliSynch technology watches you as you work and provides real-time synchronization with the visual representations. Additionally, ObjectAssembler provides real-time validation for applied software design patterns as well as EJB, JSP, Servlet, JavaBean and Struts components against their respective specification.
ObjectAssembler supports the development of Struts applications, a popular open source web application framework that is part of Apache's Jakarta Project. The same visual development, real-time validation, and code synchronization available with J2EE components are available for Struts components. A new assembly type has been added that allows you to visually construct Struts configuration files. ObjectAssembler automatically adds all newly created Struts components to this assembly to give you a head start. It also configures the Action Servlet in the web application descriptor and automatically generates the Struts configuration file as part of a WAR.
ObjectAssembler supports the creation, extension, and application of software design patterns which promotes object reuse and accelerates the overall software development process. ObjectAssembler, coupled with PCML (Pattern and Component Markup Language), provides architects with a powerful feature to create reusable designs that define objects and their interactions. These designs may then be used to automate the creation of J2EE components and application assemblies. The current support for patterns in ObjectAssembler is the beginning of a revolutionary new way of creating applications via automated pattern-driven development and reusable components.
ObjectAssembler is designed to work with all leading Java IDEs. You can use ObjectAssembler as a complete standalone development environment, or as a plug-in specifically for the following IDEs: Borland JBuilder, Sun ONE Studio (formerly Forte for Java), and NetBeans. ObjectAssembler supports any J2EE-compliant application server. The Professional and Enterprise Editions include integrated deployment features for JBoss and Weblogic with additional integrated application server support and features to follow.
ObjectAssembler is available in the following two versions:
Professional: Professional is focused on supporting developers building enterprise and web based applications. Professional provides developers with a visual development workspace, code synchronization and code validation to support the development, assembly, and deployment of EJB 2.0 (session, entity, and message-driven), JSP 1.2, Servlet 2.3, Struts 1.1, and JavaBean components. Professional fully supports the component-based architecture of J2EE 1.3.
Enterprise: Enterprise includes all of the features from Professional plus support for automated design and development using software design patterns. Enterprise, coupled with PCML, allows architects and developers to leverage best practices by providing support for the creation, modification and distribution of patterns as well as including Sun's Java Center Pattern Catalog for use by developers.
