aveConnect JDBC Driver for MS Access

Formally Certified by SUN

aveConnect JDBC Driver for MS Access is a Type III (Net Protocol - Pure Java) JDBC Driver. Using a Pure Java JDBC driver instead of JDBC - ODBC Bridge and an ODBC driver eliminates the client configuration required by ODBC.

aveConnect JDBC Driver for MS Access, being a Type III driver, uses a Universal Network Protocol to communicate with any database server. This is a generalized protocol developed by Atinav.

Design overview

aveConnect Protocol
aveConnect Protocol has been specifically designed for use by aveConnect JDBC Driver to communicate with any database server. This has been designed to use with almost all the database Servers including those to be developed in the future.

Server Middleware Component
Server side Middleware component converts server responses to Atinav protocol and sends it over the network to the client. It also translates the client requests to the format accepted by the server.

The JDBC client Component
The pure Java Client has been implemented at par with Atinav Server middle ware. This supports JDBC 1.0

Atinav JDBC Driver for MS Access - advantages

First Type III JDBC Driver
One among the first Type III JDBC Drivers for MS Access.

Efficient utilization and better performance
Better optimization techniques to decrease the Server side overhead.

Multiplatform Connectivity
Since aveConnect JDBC Driver is a Type III JDBC Driver for MS Access, the application program can be run on any platform. To connect the MS Access Database from UNIX/LINUX platforms, the Atinav JDBC driver for MS Access is useful with the Middleware Server component running in the server side.

Extended grammar support
Extended grammar specified by the ANSI SQL 92 standard are supported.

Cartesian Product support
Cartesian Product of the tables to any extent is supported by SQL Statements.

Concurrent database connections
Supports a number of concurrent database connections

Data Types supported
The Driver supports all the Data Types supported by the MS Access Database Engine.

JDBC Compliance
All the methods in JDBC 1.0 are 100% implemented in the aveConnect Driver.

Large Query support
Supports wide length queries that are given at the client side with optimized execution time.

Server side support for a variety of Service Packs
The Server side supports SP6 and is downward compatible.
