Object Windows Library
This release of the Object Windows Library is based on the OWL 5.4 release and is denoted as OWL 5.5. It was ported to Borland C++Builder
5 by Yura Bidus, author of OWLNExt. It includes source code and debug and
release libraries of, OWL, BIDS and OCF. This source code only release is being distributed as support for the OWLNext Project.
The Object Windows Library (OWL) is a Borland library, a fully
object-oriented framework originally designed for WinAPI. It was
used in Turbo Pascal for Windows, Borland Pascal and their
Borland C++ package.
In August 1997 Borland C++ 5.02 was introduced with slightly updated
a version of OWL 5. Afterwards Borland C++ and OWL were deprecated in
favor of Borland C++ Builder and VCL.
An open-source project named OWLNext was started by Yura Bidus
in order to maintain, update and expand the OWL library.
This submission contains the source code for the Object Windows Library.
(Borland/Codegear intellectual property) It serves as a foundation for
the OWLNext project to enable our customers with OWL based source code
to continue to use their existing source code in C++Builder 2007 by
using the patches provided by the OWLNext project. Please see their
page for more information and to
obtain the most recent patches which enable one to continue using OWL in
C++Builder 2007.
